This month, Liberty Military Housing was proud to participate and sponsor the ADC50 Summit in Washington, D.C., joining military leaders, community advocates, policymakers, and industry partners focused on strengthening America’s defense communities. Hosted by the Association of Defense Communities (ADC), the summit brought together voices from across the military community to discuss the future of force readiness, military family support, infrastructure, and community collaboration. For Liberty, these conversations are deeply aligned with our mission and the families we serve.

As the presenting partner of the Military Spouse Leadership Initiative (MSLI), Liberty Military Housing proudly supports the program’s mission to elevate military spouse voices and drive meaningful, community-focused impact.
During the summit, Liberty had the opportunity to preview the MSLI cohort’s capstone project, Mind the Gap: Connectedness, Integration, and Continuity, which represents the culmination of the cohort’s year-long work. The project highlights key opportunities to strengthen support systems and foster greater cohesion across military communities.
In addition to the capstone presentation, Liberty leadership connected directly with cohort members to listen, learn, and gather candid feedback on the experiences of military spouses. These conversations provided valuable insight and reinforced Liberty’s commitment to continuously evolving how it serves residents and supports the broader military housing community.
“Military spouses are an essential part of the force behind the mission and often a bridge between communities. Our voices belong in the rooms where decisions are made as true drivers of change,” military spouse River Lopez said.
As part of the summit, Liberty Military Housing CEO Philip Rizzo participated in a panel discussion titled “The Hidden Drivers of Force Readiness: Housing, Education, and the Military Family.” The session explored how factors often considered outside traditional readiness conversations, including housing stability, school continuity, and the challenges of frequent relocation, directly impact military families and, ultimately, mission readiness. One of the central themes of the discussion was simple but powerful: family readiness is force readiness.
While readiness is often associated with training, operations, and deployment capabilities, military families experience the realities of service long after the workday ends. PCS moves, school transitions, changing support systems, and housing uncertainty all shape a family’s ability to feel stable and supported. When those pressures build at home, they can affect retention, resilience, and a service member’s ability to remain focused on their mission.

At Liberty, we believe housing plays a vital role in helping military families navigate those challenges. Stable, responsive, and well-maintained housing provides more than a place to live – it creates an environment where families can settle in, build community, and focus on what matters most.
That commitment extends beyond housing itself. Through resident engagement events, educational initiatives, and partnerships with organizations that support military families, Liberty works to strengthen connections and continuity across our communities. Whether through neighborhood events, Little Libraries, youth programming, or partnerships supporting early childhood education, these efforts are designed to help families feel supported throughout the military journey.
Our participation in ADC50 also reflects Liberty’s continued support of organizations like the Association of Defense Communities and initiatives such as the Military Spouse Leadership Initiative, which help elevate the voices and experiences of military families nationwide. Strong defense communities are built through collaboration between installations, local leaders, schools, nonprofit organizations, and housing partners, whose partnerships are essential to long-term military readiness.

As conversations around recruitment, retention, and resilience continue to evolve, Liberty remains committed to supporting the people behind the mission. We are honored to contribute to discussions that help shape stronger outcomes for military families and the communities that serve them.
