100 Liberty residents in San Diego recently had the special chance to take the turf for a day of family fun with the San Diego Football Club! SDFC hosted service members and their families at the Sharp Healthcare Performance Center and Right To Dream Academy for an exclusive, behind-the-scenes tour, skills-boosting activities, and fun games on the field. This exciting day gave military kids the opportunity to hone not only their athletic skills, but also life skills that are learned through sports: resilience, teamwork, and integrity.

Studies show that participation in youth sports supports both physical and mental health. Sports can be particularly beneficial for military children who move frequently as part of their parent’s Permanent Change of Station, allowing them to foster confidence and resilience while offering an avenue to create connections with peers.

Liberty is a founding partner of San Diego FC. Illustrating our shared values of commitment, integrity, and empowerment, we work tirelessly together to honor and celebrate the military community and their service to our country. In addition to events like Family Day, Liberty hosts group events for residents at matches throughout the season at Snapdragon Stadium. Liberty and SDFC also recognize a service member and their families with its “Hero of the Match” moment, celebrating their service on the field at halftime. Liberty Military Housing is proud to offer this program to residents to honor and thank them for their service to our country.
