Liberty Military Housing (Liberty), a leading provider of military housing for 25 years, today celebrated the official opening of Meriwether Landing, a $130 million development project that delivers new housing options for military families who are stationed at Joint Base Lewis-McChord (JBLM). This investment illustrates Liberty’s ongoing commitment to providing high-quality housing for military families stationed in the area.

The new community features duplex-style homes with four bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms, two-car garages, and fenced backyards with covered patios. Each residence showcases high-quality, modern finishes, including quartz countertops, brushed nickel fixtures, wood-style window treatments, and luxury vinyl plank flooring throughout the home. Kitchens are equipped with energy-efficient appliances, as well as shaker-style cabinetry with soft-close drawers and doors. Homes also feature built-in Wi-Fi connectivity with Comcast, along with USB-C equipped outlets in the kitchen and primary bedroom to support common home technology. Residents will enjoy more direct access to the base’s schools, community centers, and other amenities through new connecting roadways.

Approximately 10 percent of the Meriwether Landing neighborhood is move‑in ready today with the remaining homes scheduled to be completed by December 2027.  Once completed, Meriwether Landing will bring the total number of homes available on base to just under 5,400.

Liberty continues to invest in its community at JBLM. In addition to the continued construction in the Meriwether Landing neighborhood, the company is in the midst of a $107 million renovation project on nearly 1,000 homes located in the New Hillside and Davis Hill neighborhoods. Liberty will begin its next renovation project later this summer, delivering a substantial remodel on homes in Eagleview and Broadmoor Non-Historic. Renovation plans include all new cabinetry and countertops, lighting, hard surface flooring, energy-efficient appliances, and HVAC upgrades, as well as new exterior improvements such as new siding, landscaping, and outdoor lighting. Renovations will begin later this summer and are expected to be completed by 2028.

“As Liberty celebrates our 25th year in operation, we remain steadfast in our purpose to provide exemplary service to those who serve our country,” says Philip Rizzo. “With the Army’s increased focus on the Pacific, our team members stand ready to support mission readiness by providing an outstanding quality of life for our nation’s military. Our continued investment in neighborhoods at JBLM, and across the country, ensures that service members and their families have access to quality homes, vibrant neighborhoods, and comprehensive support for generations to come.”

“Safe, affordable, high-quality housing is a top priority for servicemembers and families stationed at JBLM,” said Congresswoman Marilyn Strickland (WA-10). “Meriwether Landing is the first installment of many more housing units on-base. As we look to address the housing crisis for servicemembers and civilians, we must use all tools to get housing built on and off base."

Funding for this project was made possible by the Military Housing Privatization Initiative (MHPI). Celebrating its 30th year in 2026, this partnership enables privatized military housing providers to make direct investments that upgrade and expand communities, benefiting the thousands of military members and their families by ensuring that they have access to quality housing within a vibrant community. Project partners include Windsor Construction Company, general contractor; American Water, water purveyor; City Light and Power, energy purveyor; and Comcast, internet provider.
