LibertyMilitary Housing (Liberty), acknowledged for its quality homes and vibrant neighborhoods, today announced the opening of the Liberty Learning Academy at Patuxent River, its community serving military families stationed at Pax River Naval Air Station. This new, hands-on training facility is the third of many planned academies throughout the companys portfolio, and the second in the Mid-Atlantic Region.

Through the Liberty Learning Academy, the company’s employee-owners will have extensive access to resources and training that helps them to successfully deliver quality homes and exemplary service to the military families who live within its communities. The facility provides comprehensive professional development for all team members, including customer service, leadership development, and technical troubleshooting. Using a blended learning approach that combines hands-on learning with simulation-based training, Liberty team members gain access to workshops that support all aspects of operations. The academy is equipped with practical workstations that include two bathrooms, one kitchen, one water heater, one boiler, and one HVAC unit, all of which are fully functional. The academy also includes an exterior wall system to allow learners to understand framing, moisture barriers, and exterior finishes that are typical in Pax River’s homes. This comprehensive facility ensures that Liberty team members are equipped to address a full range of resident needs from customer service to HVAC and other essential maintenance repairs.

Liberty currently operates two additional academies across its portfolio, with one based in Hampton Roads, VA, and another serving Joint Base Lewis-McChord outside of Tacoma, WA. In 2025, the Liberty Learning Academies collectively hosted 219 professional development workshops and 34 onboarding trainings, resulting in 1,953 training hours. Liberty’s blend of in-person and online training, delivered through its on-site educational facilities, has contributed to exceptional performance, with both regions exceeding many operational targets, and achieving industry-leading resident satisfaction scores.

“The opening of the third Liberty Learning Academy illustrates our commitment to offering employee-owners opportunities that will help them grow and thrive in their careers,” says Luis Lopez, Vice President of Training and Development. “The comprehensive and diverse training offered at the academy has allowed hundreds of Liberty team members to deepen their knowledge base and refine their skills, so they are better equipped to serve our residents. We are pleased to further expand these opportunities with the new Liberty Learning Academy at Pax River.”
